Thumbs up Just Joined trying to lift

I just traded in my '99 for an '05. I want to try and put a suspension lift. Doesn't seem like much is available. That's how I found the forum.

Has anyone used the 3 1/2" lift from streetridepro?

http://streetridepro.com/product_inf...oducts_id=7966

I called them and they said it is an upper control arm and an adjustable shock/strut.

You might want to read this thread before you buy something from that company, seems like their business ethics are a little questionable.

Yeah there business is poor. "F" rating from the BBB. A few second gen guys on another forum have there lift kits.

An adjustable coil over and a better upper a-arm IS the way to lift one of these trucks 3.5", but only 2wd. You need a Diff drop kit for the CVs on a 4x4, so they would need to provide that. Plus you would need a solution for the racks tie rod ends, whether you flip the end on the knucle yourself, or get some kind of kit.

Only there complete kit would make sense but I wouldnt do business with them.

You could also use there control arms with a leveling kit, because it solves the upper control arm and balljoint issues leveling kits create. But you still wont fix the CV angle issue.

Did your 99 have a steering box and torsion bars?? Such a better setup for a truck....

Most of us are doing leveling kits, 2", then 1 or 2" rear blocks or an AAL. Then larger tires to get another inch of lift. Other then that, there is really nothing.

If you want to try your luck with this companies lift kit, its up to you.

Good luck.

The '99, I'm not sure of. Just my old work truck. However, my 05 is, as you know, IFS.

I have been reading the reviews about streetridepro, (chassis-tech), I guess I better steer clear for my first lift. I think I will do the daystar leveling kit with the monroes. I can get everything on summitracing.

Does anybody know if the five leaf pack from the following company will lift the rear any? I'm thinking one inch on the rear would go well with two on the front.

I just received in the mail some boards from:

I'm going to work offshore. It may be awhile before I can install them.

BTW, streetridepro said over the phone the complete kit is no longer available as there were some problems with it.

hey.
i am fabricating a long travel kit for the 05-06 dakota 2wd trucks. i have an 06 2wd. i know there wasnt anything for kits so i decided to take a road trip down to camburg in california for a shop tour and welding clinic/fab thing they invited me to. i talked to the fabricator and we shared ideas and methods.

i know alot of people on here and other places hate on me becuase "its cost to much money that you dont have" or they say "buy a ranger and then get a $6000 long travel"

but im going to try to make it as bolt on as possible. getting rid of all the balljoints and replacing with uniball and heims. the rear will feature deaver leaf springs and long travel bypass shocks. and the control arms will be replaced with a box plated lower and tubular upper extended 3-3.5"

im not saying dont go ahead and buy other stuff. and I am no means a "big name" company but ill be posting up a thread on the build for everyone too see and if all goes well i will try to sell them to all the dakota guys since we are unfortunate in the suspension category.

06Dak287, i believe i have seen your posts on the race-dezert forum. Were you at Camburg on the 13th?

I too am into long travel and pre runners, as i have built rangers for some of my buddies. I'm currently worked on some boxed lowers, tubular uppers that i'll use a 12 in 2.5 coilover and then 2.0 bumpstop on. I would like to see your designs if you don't mind, as maybe we can work together on this.

Sorry to hijack this thread OP

yea im on RDC also. same user name. i drove my dakota down to camburg on the 13th, yes. im making up my jigs now for some 3" extended lowers and uppers with FOA coilovers and bumps. ill put up all the info i have on my project thread when i get that started.

to the o.p. theres not much you can do unless people (like us) make the kits and test them to make sure nothign goes wrong than possibly sell them at a good price. but your limited to spacers and blocks for now.
