Default Any news on the future of Dakota?

I'm trying to find any info on future Dakota models. i've heard they might be car based in the future, similar to a Honda Ridgeline. Anybody have any info? Links?. Thanks

Not much news, equally probable rumors at this point of a unibody vehicle and a total discontinuation.

With recent sales the way they are, the Dakota line probably isn't that high on the list-of-things-to-do for Federal UAW Fiat Chrysler LLC. I'd guess it would be the most cost effective to either scrap it or let it plug along for a year or two. Soon they're going to have to address the truck models with the upcoming CAFE hike (which Ford is engineering an awesome engine for, btw), but I think our favorite Dodge truck will be on the back burner for a while.

Well a year ago I was told by my dealer that the 2010 would be it for Dakota. Mid-size trucks if one was to continue was to be a Frontier and the Ram was to be a Titan. But I’m sure it has all changed since then. I’m sure of one thing and that whatever happens it won’t be good unless your a green leafier and think flower petals will run you new truck. I will most likely have to buy used (REAL) truck to have a truck. A BO Motors Vehicle Corp. is not an option for me.

How in the world do you figure this? The Titan still uses a 5.6L.
This was talked about like a year ago to start a partnership for Ram-based Titans in 2011 or so, but that didn't really work out.

They'd be dumb to convert the Dakota to a unibody.
Perhaps if the Dakota's appealed to more people (how the sheet metal looks) and actually got better MPGs than the Ram, more people would buy it. According to dodge.com, Ram and Dakota get 20MPG at their best.
