i think that he needs to focus on traction, not adding different types of power.
blown, what kind of tires were you running for your best times? What do you have for suspension right now?

That was kinda my thinking as well... get that weight to transfer to the rear better. When I drag raced sleds we had the suspension set up so that the tracks ran completely flat with the ground even under load, and the front skis were about 2 inches off the ground, I know its not quite the same, but it gets the point across that a good suspension setup will get a good jump and the power to the ground
My suspension is stock.
interesting. for something low buck and easy to install, you could look for something like a differential snubber.
im honestly shocked that youre spinning slicks...what tire pressure are you running?
as ridiculous as it might seem, if you add some balast over the rear wheels, the added weight might be countered by having better traction. i would try packing something liek 50lbs of sand right against the inside of the tailgate. 50lbs is only a half a tenth, but if it allows you to come out harder you may absorb that time and run quicker.
when i stage with the mirada, i prestage and bring it up to 4800 and inch forward to tickle the bottom beam and as soon as i do, i floor the brakes and bring the r's up to around 4000. im running a hoosier quick time pro with only some cheap heavy duty leaf springs with a diff snubber, and i dont often have an issue with the tires spinning when in staged as much as i do a problem with it shoving me through the beams. we put the same tires on Amanda's ram, and it pulled 1.9X short times running 14.80s and 14.90s. i love me some hoosiers.

a differential snubber mounts to the underside of the vehicle directly above the rear diff. when you launch, the natural force of the tires during launch try to leave the ground either causing tire spin or wheel hop. with the snubber, there is less room for the diff to travel, so other than just the mass of the weight transfer shoving through the suspension, when the *** end squats and the wheels come up, the snubber shoves the wheels back down .
here is one for a mustang..

I was spinning the 20s with Nittos. The 16" stockers with MT Drags at 26psi hooked. Only once did I have a problem with them on the line as I took Boost to fast before launch. My problem is finding the happy medium of how fast to apply the gas, to not loose boost at RPM right before launch. The MT drag slicks did awesome.
ive actually been thinking about the caltracs myself, so i asked a guy at the show who had them what he thought. he was driving a 64 426 polara running 10.50s. he said that they made no difference, and that they didnt do anything but "look cute". i told him what kind of times the mirada was pulling and he told me that in his opinion caltracs wouldnt make my times any better, as im getting good traction, pullin 1.6 short times to run low 12s. however, he did say that he has seen people put them on cars that had bad traction issues and they helped.
as for the snubber..the nice thing is that its adjustable, and easy to change. this way, you can put it all the way up on the road and all the way down at the track, although not offering enough give can prevent wheel hop but cause more spin.
if you find any sort of traction problems with the slicks, i would recommend dropping the pressure. ive never run more than 18psi in any sort of drag tire, slick or DOT approved. at sticky tracks, i run 18psi..at slick tracks i run around 15..maybe a little less. however, if youre going to do that, you need to paint the lines and watch for rim spin.
one thing to remember...a comment that my dad has made many times...great traction finds the weak spots. trapping 109 you definately are making good power, as thats faster than i ran when i was in the 12.40s. if you can get out hard, you should easily go 12.50s.
on a side note, what kind of WHP are you making? someone told me that it was around 300whp, but that seems low for a dak trapping 109..what does it weigh?
