13.3 @ 109
ive actually been thinking about the caltracs myself, so i asked a guy at the show who had them what he thought. he was driving a 64 426 polara running 10.50s. he said that they made no difference, and that they didnt do anything but "look cute". i told him what kind of times the mirada was pulling and he told me that in his opinion caltracs wouldnt make my times any better, as im getting good traction, pullin 1.6 short times to run low 12s. however, he did say that he has seen people put them on cars that had bad traction issues and they helped.
as for the snubber..the nice thing is that its adjustable, and easy to change. this way, you can put it all the way up on the road and all the way down at the track, although not offering enough give can prevent wheel hop but cause more spin.
if you find any sort of traction problems with the slicks, i would recommend dropping the pressure. ive never run more than 18psi in any sort of drag tire, slick or DOT approved. at sticky tracks, i run 18psi..at slick tracks i run around 15..maybe a little less. however, if youre going to do that, you need to paint the lines and watch for rim spin.
one thing to remember...a comment that my dad has made many times...great traction finds the weak spots. trapping 109 you definately are making good power, as thats faster than i ran when i was in the 12.40s. if you can get out hard, i could easily see 12.50s.
on a side note, what kind of WHP are you making? someone told me that it was around 300whp, but that seems low for a dak trapping 109..what does it weigh? i figure that im making around 370whp based on the best times and weight...3600lb car, 12.40s @ 108 ish...

Since then I have added the alcohol injection, split second controller, dry ice chambers, solid tranny mounts, engine torque dampers, 4.10 gears and went from a 3.5" 11psi pulley to a 3.25" pulley at 14psi boost. I've got to be sitting around 400RWHP but I won't know for sure until I can dyno again.
I will remember the PSI for the slicks, plus I'm looking at them and I might need bigger slicks.
ok..thats makes a whole lot more sense...my calculator says that a 5000lb vehicle needs around 500whp to trap 109...thats only an estimate but youre making some serious power either way.
As soon as I get the extra $ I will redyno with all of the new mods. My tires being cut really cut into the budget my wife allowed for the build. My only dyno was to tune the blower the week of the install. If you look at my dyno sheets you will see I ran too lean to get 100% and we had to shut down. I sent the results to Hemifever and re-wrote my fuel maps. I haven't even dynoed with the current fuel maps, lol. But yes, the 301rwhp dyno was only for the initial blower tune.
the altitude at VMP is around 190 feet if my google search was right..and thats going to help the times and power as well. youre shoving very rich air into the engine.
Nope, but I tried. I ended up paying for new tires for both vehicles. like 1,200.00 or so.
