Cutting Front Fenders, opinions?

No ones done this yet..
Toying with the idea of picking up two new fenders, primed, taking them to my fathers metal shop and drawing out a nice cutting line on both of them, cutting them, spraying them with bed liner, and then adding a rubber trim or flare to the edges. With this setup, clearing 285/75 tires on a 16x8 wheel would most likely be a reality, that is along with a 2" leveling kit and rear lift blocks.
Has anyone toyed with the idea of doing this? I know it can be done to look great, depending on how nifty you are with sheet metal.
The fenders are pretty cheap, and of course I would be able to keep and store my original fenders for the future.
It doesn't seem like a suspension lift is ever going to come out for this truck, and I am willing to bet its near the end of its generation.
I might try it, worst case scenario, i wasted a few bucks and the original fenders go back on.
