Exhaust Manifold Leak?

Exhaust Manifold Leak?
I noticed this morning my engines sound different. It sounds like the exhaust is leaking near the motor so I assume it's the manifold bolts that have come loose or broke. I've read some threads about this happening. I plan on doing this myself unless the bolt or bolts are broken. Any tips would be appreciated.

Possibly...
Its possible, I have a 1995 Jeep Wrangler and it was pretty apparent that it had a cracked exhaust manifold. What you can do is start it cold, pop the hood, and rev the engine up and if the sound gets louder while the engine is in the process of accelerating and then quiets down once it stops accelerating then that's most likely the problem.
My Jeep made sort of a snapping sound, just flick the throttle a bit and see if it becomes more apparent and then quiets down. Optionally, if its really bad, you could buy a vacuum gauge and check the engine vacuum. I would think that a REALLY bad leak like a loose manifold flange would cause the O2 sensor to cry foul to the computer which would throw a code but you never know...

You almost certainly have a busted stud at the back of the manifold nearest the outlet. This will require extracting the busted stud. sometimes easy, sometimes hard. If you have never used a tap to extract a bolt, I wouldn't practice here. 8mm studs are used oem and are too small for the application.
