Question about a boost/vacuum gauge
I'm looking at ordering the rest of my gauges pretty soon, and I don't want to have an open section in the gauge pod, and down the road I'm going to be turboing, or supercharging the motor.
My question is, when I hook up the vac/boost gauge, can I hook up just the vacuum part? and leave the boost section unhooked until I add boost?
Does anyone follow what I'm asking? =\

A boost gauge and a vacuum gauge are one in the same...

if you hook it up right now, you will only measure vacuum. but if you ever do boost, it will be ready. (after being re-installed after forced induction)
here's me not doing ****.

You are correct. Without a SC/Turbo the gauge will just show vacuum. With the SC/Turbo the gauge will read both vacuum and boost (aka on the go fast pedal you get boost, foot off the go fast pedal it will register vacuum).
(*sigh* To have boost again.)

Frenchy, once you hook up the gauge you will know instantly if you have a leak or not. When I pulled my blower to repair the pulley, I still drove my truck and the boost gauge worked just fine even without the blower installed. All it does is monitor the pressure in the line.
Boost is a trip, if you go with boost you will love it.

ok, someone told me that when adding the boost gauge, if I tap into a vacuum line, I have to worry about my air conditioning turning to defrost and my brakes not working, any of this make sense?
On my Eclipse I used barbed fittings and small zip ties at every connection point to make absolutely sure those vacuum hoses would stay on. Never had a problem with them.
