I have 05 dakota with under 75,000 miles. I have to replace the exshaust manifold. Are they a common thing that goes?

You didn't mention what engine this is. There could be a difference between the 3.7, the 4.7, the 4.7 HO....

Its common for the rear exhaust studs to snap off and causing it to leak exhaust. The manifold have not been a problem. Did you have the dealer replace under warranty? The reason i ask, in california there is a 8/80 emission warranty and that would be covered . There is an updated exhaust gasket that is thicker than the factory. That make up for warpage,

Master tech is right on. Busted manifold bolts are a common problem. A cracked manifold is not as common, but it does happen. Are you possibly confusing a bolt and gasket replacement for a manifold replacement?

The engine is a 4.7, the dealer said that it was the manifold. No warranty to fall back on for this repair.

Got the truck out of the shop and found out that it was just bolten bolts and a bad gasket. Thanks for all the help.

I have an 05 4.7 and have a cracked manifold. But the dealer claims it is covered under the federal emissions warranty (7 year/70k) and is replacing it for me.
