octane boost wont do much, it is more for the 4 cyl. but a true higher octane on the v8 is what you are looking for. you can special order any gas from websites, like sunoco.com or even mobil.com

Increasing the octane, either by the use of octane booster or higher octane fuel, will make your truck slower. Octane ratings are a measure of the fuel's ability to supress detonation. Higher octane fuel contains less energy. An aftermarket tune designed to take advantage of higher octane fuel's detonation supression ability via increased ignition timing will yield more power. A stock tune will loose power. Some stock vehicles will benefit from higher octane to a point (typically 91 octane), but the majority of cars won't see any power increase from higher octane fuels.

Yea, 235 compared to 305 (302 or whatever. Diff sources vary like 4-5 HP). The 08+ kicks in the power and torque around 3200 RPM. Off the line though it's doggy at best. You almost have to brake launch it from about 3500-4000 RPM to get in the power band, rather than waiting for it to come on. I'm currently looking into ways to rectify that pesky problem.

With that said, after seeing this post the last few days I decided to play around a little yesterday. It was kind of random and I didn't have the SC with me so I just used a stopwatch. I did like 3 launches from a dead stop to 60MPH (around here that's damn near impossible :/ ). It started out at 7.34 on the 1st one, then made a quicker run, then the slowest of the 3 at 7.48. Oddly enough, the best time I got was the middle one while leaving an angled exit from a parking lot onto a 3 lane wide highway. That was at 7.13 seconds 0-60. Not bad for a "truck". And that was just let off the brake and mash the gas. No brake launch or anything. The truck is an '08 QC 4.7 TRX 4x4 with AWD and 3.92 gears. The only mods are a K&N CAI and SC 3865 on the 87 tune. I have both the rev limiter and 1-2, 2-3 shift points maxed (6500 and 6250 RPM respectively, if I remember right).

Once things turn nicer around here I'll have to try it again using the data log function, and maybe even try the 91, 93 tune instead of just the 87. It would be nice to get it in the high 6's.

I did a run this weekend for the 0-60 and got it down to 8.81 .... a little better than 9.32 atleast. I think I am going to go to a full CAI from K&N and a fastman throttle body.

Sorry to drag up an older thread, but I figured it was better than starting a whole new one. I finally got a chance to make a couple runs last night. With a very bad start, I got a best of 8.2 0-60. I'd bet with a better launch and less gas in the tank (was between 1/2 and 3/4 full), I could drop it to 8 flat, or even into the 7s.

Sad thing is, I know my truck is slow when the sheriff that pulled out behind me from further up the road didn't feel I was going fast enough to warrant pulling over, even though I was doing almost 20 over

I was coming home yesterday doing 70mph in a 50mph construction zone (fines double in work zones here) and I was getting passed and I was in the right lane. The nice weather here gives people speed fever .... and you can tell with how many cops are out.
I went cruising last night at the local spot and they had state patrol pulling people over, which is unusual because you rarely see them anywhere but the interstate.

I own the 2008 Dakota QC 4x4 with the new 4.7, flame red SLT package.. its not a race truck, I dont know what the 0-60 time is..what I do know is my brother is a Ford guy and has an F-150 with the 5.4 Triton, and I broke his heart on I-75 returning from our mothers house.

I disagree that the Dakota is a work truck..work trucks dont have air,tilt,cruise,PW,PM,PDL, power seats... what the dakota is, especially the QC is a very nice alternative to an SUV..

I traded in a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and if there is a difference in seating space, I cant see it

I have the best of both worlds, I can comfortably take the family to the movies... I can pull my 4200 pound camper up and down hills without mashing the gas to the floor, and I can run up to home depot and bring home lumber, doors, bathtubs ETC.

Oh, and I can enjoy 18-21 MPG with the CC on making the drive from Florence KY to Ashland Ky to my wifes sisters house...while still enjoying that V8 growl.

Rengnath, what is your setup? I only have the 3.7 with colder plugs, 180 stat, CAI, and powerwire, 1/2 tank of gas. I am able to pull 2.777 0-60 at the track. Powerbraking @ 1500rpm 1/4mile was 18.437
