This is from Marty at KRC

"Using standard compression pistons, KRC Performances Ported heads, headers and a SCT tune, the New KRC 232 cam will net 360 from the 4.7. Using the Ross forged 11.5 compression pistons and the New KRC 242 will approach 390 rear wheel. I would not be surprised if you see a 5 speed Dakota hit 400+ with that combo."

If that turns out to be true, our engines will be worth the $ if not, definately look into the Hemi swap.

I would go with the 5.7 swap. One question I have is r the durangos of u guys' gen like mine were they r basically the same as the Dakota or r they more like the ram then if they r still the Dakota based I'd get a 5.7 outa that it would prolly make it a little easier to swap

Dusty is the guy to talk to for the 5.7L swap, he is the only person I know that has successfully swaped a 5.7L into a G3 Dakota.

With only a 5.7L(with 6.1L cam) and SCT tune, Dusty ran a 13.9 in the 1/4.

No doubt, what about the 6.4L 392 Hemi in one of our Dakotas, lol?

Performing a motor swap on a vehicle, to create something that can be easily and affordably be found as a stock vehicle, would be out of the question for me.

Say you want to sell the truck eventually. I can't imagine wanting to give you the same money an otherwise identical factory equipped V8 truck would bring. I'd need a heck of a bargain to not run away from it.

If you do it, be sure of the vehicle type and year model and try to research any differences (like if it's a jeep 4.7, are they laid out the same?) . Be sure to save the VIN from the donor somewhere too.

I've seen a few swaps done. Be sure to set aside some extra money for surprises along the way.
