I thought the pulley became out of balance because of a manufacturing error. I thought BadassRT or Superdak05 had one on his and cooked the engine. If you search his old posts, you should be able to find the thread. I know they ended up getting the engine replaced under warranty, but it was infact the pulley that caused the issue.

The end of the crank broke causing the timing chain to pop off and then **** ran downhill...

The engine wasn't covered under warranty because of the UD pulley being installed, all he got out of it was a refund from ASP on the pulley and the cost burden of a new engine. They said it was installed with a long bolt thus not tightening all the way, ie user/installer error. I just dont see the benefits on a mostly stock engine where the gains are so minimal and the charging issues maximized along with the added end stress on the crank. It doesnt make sense to me.

Don't need lash caps I just got done installing my HO cams.
