Hey guys,
Im wondering if its a good idea to remove the insulation from the hood. I did a quick google search, and people are saying it prevents the look of "sunburnt" paint and by taking it off it can ruin the paint on the top of the hood from the engine heat. Also, people said by taking it off it will keep your engine bay temps cooler. So has anyone done it with any (negative) effects?
I have not taken mine off, but I am glad someone has brought this up. I have mice that at getting in between the hood and the insulation and using it as bedding material. They have made a nice home on my engine on several occasions.
I dont see why anyone would remove this for very negligible if any positive results... especially if there is a chance it would fade the paint on your hood quicker if that is even true. Its main function is probably to minimize engine noise.
quite possible maybe mr crash can and hollywood can chime in here and prove this therory cause if they took it out my therory is they relised it did absolutely nothing to save paint or reduce noise or whatever or there is an entire year of vehicles missing a part lmao
I removed mine because it was falling off anyways. I wondered about the heat/paint issue as well. Guess we'll wait and see, but if the newer ones don't come with one at all, then maybe there is no issue with that.
