Bought a 2007 Quad Cab SLT two weeks back. It runs great for the most part except for a small issue. If I drive it around for more than 30 or 40 miles it will sometimes have trouble cranking. I will turn the key and can hear the relays firing but wont start. Tried swapping out the starter relays but still has the same issue. Sometimes swapping the relays works and other times if I just leave it alone for about 5 to 10 minutes it works. Not sure where to start on this. Could it be a starter thats sticking?
My guess would be the starter, but also check for faulty wiring at the battery and to the ground or at the starter. Even though the relays are clicking and getting power, if you have a faulty ground or connections somewhere, if the connection cant conduct enough current, it wont turn the starter.

great point! yep electrical connections can be heat sensitive too
Yeah, a new starter is only $75 from autozone and it comes with a lifetime warranty. After you get all the parts, and invest all your time in it, it would probably be cheaper just to get a new one. Plus, if it fails then all you have to do is go exchange it. My .02
Hmmmm cheapeast I can find new for the 07 is $180. Found a used parts shop that is selling them for $30 with a 6 month guarantee. Might just pick up a used one. Thanks for the advice guys.
