Default Bed Extender Question

I am fixin to go buy this westin bed extender

3k73mf3l75T15W05S4a8ieacb3e4374631912.jpg

from a guy off craigslist for a really good price. My question is when it is folded inside the bed does any part of it come up higher then the bed rails? I am getting ready to get a tonneau cover and do not want the bed extender if it will interfere with the cover. Thanks.

Nope, I used to have one in mine. I never used it so I finally sold it. There were small plastic legs on the bottom of mine, if the fit is close you can remove or trim them.

What type are you getting? Mine is custom so it sits flat with the bed.

Thanks for the replies Eric and Blown, I just got back from getting it. The plastic legs come up pretty close to the bed rail but not close enough that it will interfere with the tonneau cover. It was in really good condition and I google searched the model and it retails for $179-$239 and I got it from the guy for $35, he bought it from his brother who sold his dakota thinking it would fit his ford sport trac which it didnt, and he just wanted it out of his garage. I am waiting to install it because I want the quick release brackets not the standard ones and I have to order them.

Wow I like that cover Blown, especially how it is body color and sits so flush! Definitely a one of a kind. How is it mounted? How does it open up?

I ordered a tri fold tonneau cover yesterday, my idea is that with this bed extender we can just lift the part of the cover that is over the extender up and place groceries, etc... in the bed within the folded in extender and shut the cover and go, kind of like a trunk, at least that is what I am hoping anyways lol.

Thanks man but yeah, it has a set of hood shocks that hold it open when I want it up.

Jkeaton every couple of days I will go to craigslist and search for "dodge dakota" in my county and a couple of nearby counties as well and then just look through the listings for any parts that pop up. It only takes a few minutes to check and it works with any other things you may be looking for besides parts for the dakota give it a shot! Then offer them 30% to 50% off what they are asking lol.
