Default 2006 dakota v8 shaking at 65 mph & up

I need help! i just bought 2006 Dakota SLT Quad cab 4.7L. Has 61,000 miles. When i get to 65 mph the truck vibrates. i've got 4 new tires rotated & balanced from belle tire. I had them check the front end & brakes. they said everything looks good. What should I do next? I bought the truck from a Saab dealer. Truck is awesome, but I've got to stop the vibrating. What else could it be?

Dunno man, mine does the same. It's not extreme though, I know it's a common problem with these trucks. Others that have experience will chime in soon though.

My guess is they used a impact gun to install the new tires and warped your rotors or drums.

Happens all the time, If you do not learn what needs to be done on your vehicle, people will get lazy and cut corners working on it. Now Once they are bent I do not know if they can be fixed with out being recut

What type of tires did you get installed? If they are an aggressive tread, they can be a PITA to get balanced just right. Even though they may be balanced properly at the shop, there is always a small amount of error and 65MPH+ can amplify that. The other question is did the truck do it before the new tires?

And if belle tire uses an impact, its very possible they warped your rotors like Eimer said. My family thinks Im nuts for not just paying $15 to get my tires rotated at a shop, but I would rather rotate them myself and hand torque all the lugs to 100 ft lbs to know they are right.

Like rengnath said, the first question is did it do this before the new tires? Could also be a u-joint going bad...i think what nola was referring to is a shudder when braking from high speed. That is a common problem with these trucks.

When I got the truck it had 2 different sets of tires on it. Goodyear Wrangler RT/S on the front & American Prospector SUV on the back. Why I don't know, but they were new or less than 5000mi on them so says Discount tire & Belle tire. Neither carried the RT/S because it is being discontinued, so Belle had the AP SUV so I went with them. P265/70R16 and yes it did shake before getting tires, that's what got me there in the first place. Should have said something about the different tires to begin with, but too late now.

I'ts common on this trucks? I have no idea. I got my truck almost 2 years now, i have after market wheels and A/T tires, have driven my truck over the 100 mph mark and never my truck has shaken or vibrated while braking or up in high speed.. Check your front end, ball joints, sway bar links, wheel bearings, rotors, drums, whatever you can think of. Something got to be wrong. Do a search and you'll see this problem has been discussed before. Like i said before, it has never happened to me!!! Good luck and don't loose hope on the truck, they are awesome !!!
