I would assume, it is held on by plastic clips very similar to the clips that hold the grill insert to the grill.

Ugh... wrong part (as usual!) for the mounting bracket

There is only 1 part number listed, but it does not fit. I ordered it, it showed up, and its wrong (BLAH!!!)

Did you get a 55361301AA? Maybe it was packaged wrong?
Take a pic and post it, lemme see...

Also,
Was the console you got from a 2005?

Thanks! Ya know, I think the truck I got it from might have been a 2006 actually.... I never thought there might be a difference.

Did I really do this to myself again?

So if I wanted to buy a console from an 05, what would I need besides the unit?

OK. Its the same part number for 2005-2007, and the part I got is the correct part number, and it is identical to the part that is already installed in my truck that only has the cheesy domelight.

I have no idea if the parts truck I pulled it from at the junk yard had a sunroof, which is a different part number (of course I didn't even consider it at the time!)

So I guess its gonna be surgery to make it fit..... break out the sawzall and dynamite

That's the secret of the ages it would appear!

I talked to 2 dealers, and the part number is identical for all years (05-07) and the only difference is sunroof or not. My truck has no sunroof. However, there is only 1 part number that I can tell (could be wrong) for the overhead console itself, so therefore, I doubt the mounting mechanism is different.

I'm looking at the 2 parts together now (console and mounting bracket) and they are anatomically correct for one another, with the exception of a couple of clip mounting locations.

The contour is correct, and the front mounting screw location is in the correct place, except its missing the speednut thingy, I'll have to find one that fits in the hole. I think that if the rear of the console clips to the headliner, then it all fits fine. If its supposed to clip into the bracket, then it will require some surgery.

I'll try and post a couple of pics in a bit

I can stop by my dealer tomorrow and verify the part number I bought.
I have extras of the speed nut inserts (my part came with them!)

We will figure this out!
