They keep your battery warm so it will have the amps to start when it's cold outside. they are about $40 from the dealership

I just replaced my factory battery, took that ripped up blanket off and tossed it.
Of course, coldest it gets here is MAYBE 0 deg...
I bought a 65 series battery from COSTCO..100amps more than our stock 60 series.

IIRC the "factory" tow package includes a hitch that is welded to the frame. I assume if he took the hitch, then it was an aftermarket purchase in the first place. The previous owner may have meant he had the 4pin or 7pin connector wired in?? Not sure. As others have mentioned, the factory tow package includes a few more things than just a hitch and wiring. Either way, congrats on the purchase!

btw...bc of you guys i just learned what that blanket is for around my battery, lol! I figure in Phoenix this is completely unnecessary! lol.

That's right! If he took out the hitch then is aftermarket. My 07' has the tow package and the hitch is welded to the frame.
Maybe he ment the hitch reciever that it's mounted with bolts to the hitch!
