Default Tow Package

Hi,

I recently bought a 2010 4.x crew cab with the 4.7L. I was told by the previous owner that the truck as the tow package. The previous owner kept the hitch. What else can I look for on the truck to make sure that I do indeed have the tow package? I might need to tow a 5000lbs trailer and want to make sure I can tow it safely .

Thanks in advance

First off, Congrats and Welcome. You can request your Dakotas build sheet, which will give you a list all of the equipment and options that came with the vehicle. Fill out the information and they will get back to you pretty quickly.

Here is the link.

Welcome to the club and congrats on your Dak purchase. My truck has the factory tow package. which is a 2" receiver hitch and a 4 and 7 pin connectors. He took the entire receiver hitch? as in unbolted it from the frame?

+1 It took four business days to get it. I was a little impatient and after 1 day I went to my dealer and asked the parts guy for a copy. He printed it right off for me and checked to see if there were any open recalls, and any applicable TSB's. Didn't cost me anything.

That's right took it right off. I didn't really care I can get one for cheap at hitches online. I made him knock the price 5x what the hitch is worth.

just seems strange to take the factory hitch off, it is specifically designed for the Dakota (I would assume)...If you did have the factory tow package, the wiring should still be there then for the 4 and 7 pin connectors....

Welcome aboard. It's funny that he told you it had a tow package yet he took the hitch. Jkeaton said it spot on.
