All i did was unbolt the clamps because there should just be some clamps holding on the stock muffler, or at least that is how mine was.

We just installed a Magnaflow on the Wife's 4.6L V8 Borrego and it sounds great. I used a sawzall the remove the old muffler, use mounting clamps to secure the in/out and when I was happy with it I had it welded in. Just did it yesterday, lol.

Ditto Blown, a good ol sawzall and that original muffler was toast in about 5 minutes...lol...I had clamps on mine too, but they were too rusted and I broke the nuts off trying to remove them.

Funny but mine came in on Monday!!! The tip DakotaFF also recommended will be in some time later this week.I too have that same question. To add to that, I want to remove the resonator too. Any DIY'ers do this set-up? Any points we should consider before attacking this? I was thinking of getting a few extra clamps as I don't know how the olds one will work out. Can I get a piece of pipe to replace the resonator spot from a local auto parts store or should i stop in at a muffler shop and ask them for it? I didn't want to weld it on right now as finances are kind of tight but would like it better sealed in the future. Any input?
Thanks!!

I removed my entire system (2 resos and the muffler) from the Y pipe back using a sawzall, very easy to do. I got my system off ebay and had to buy an additional 12" pipe section from advance auto to make up for where the front reso was. There is a little dogleg in that portion of the pipe so make your cuts carefully so you have at least 2-3" of straight pipe to connect to. I just put everything together with clamps and eventually had it welded.

i know it sounds stupid but i find it hard distinguishing between the resos and the mufflers. right at the end by the tip i have a small mini muffler which i believe is a reso, i the center i have a giant round pipe, and towards the front by the engine i have what appears to be a muffler

06Dak4.7Silver, here is the breakdown: The one in the front is a resonator, the big one in the middle is the giagantic muffler and the one at the end is another resonator!!!!
