Ok I finally got around to checking out this shaft. Is it suppose to be easy to move the shaft with the truck off and on the ground ? Mine moves very easy. Almost to easy. Whats your take on that. I have not yet tried to listen to the creak but I'm sure it can't be far off from that pos shaft

Can you explain further what type of movement you are having? I still have my old shaft I took out and still have not got around to seeing what part failed. My guess is the rubber ring that is riveted on is the failing point

Well, truck seems to wander all over the road, tie rods are new, have a slight vibration, that I think is the rotors which im replacing. Steering has alot of play in it. When you turn the steering wheel on a slight upward hill the steering creaks. Not sure what else but really annoying

The shaft would make the steering erratic wouldn't it? I'm just looking for answers without starting a new post

If the steering has play in it, Im guessing thats your steering shaft. Can you have someone get in the truck and turn the wheel for you, while you go under the hood and hold the shaft to see if thats the problem?

I can, but how would I tell if it's def it? I'm fine with replacing it, I just want to make sure. It looks like hell under there also so rusted everything else is nice and black. If I go under the hood I can easily turn the shaft by hand.

If you can hold the shaft in one position, and someone can move the wheel, the shaft is bad.
