Default Another cold air intake to look at

So I started with the AEM kit, and it made for a very clean and easy install.

I noticed right away that the metal intake pipe gets REALLY hot while the engine is operational so I improvised some insulation.

I used gorilla tape, pretty tough.

And finally widened the hole where the "train horn" intake piece breathes through.

And i gotta say I am VERY impressed with results. Engine now growls under acceleration and performance gain can be felt a bit.

lol. black absorbs all energy equally= gets hotter than any other surface color. thats why i wrapped my intake tube in aluminum foil=reflects all energy equally. think about putting tin foil in the oven you an remove it w.o a glove.

Aluminum also conducts thermal energy aswell. The ideal would be to insulate and then cover with foil. The AEM tube is already shiny after all.

I used this with my ram-air box before the blower and it worked well.

I'm sure you could use header tape as well.
