Interesting thought: Swapping a Hemi into the Dakota.

Is it possible? What is the weight difference between a Hemi and a 4.7? Will it even fit into the same hole? Would the newer hemi fit, with the computer, so the VVF (Or whatever the acronym is) would work?

Another note, how much is a supercharger for one of these?

I'm just throwing thoughts out there. I can't afford 40K for a new truck. I might be able to fit in a lot less.

So, throw your ideas out there.

different gearing ratio's would kill this theory.

Yes, it's been done and we have discussed it many times and in great length.

Interesting threads. I'm thinking the Hemi swap would be easier.

I think I know a shop that can do it too. I'll have to stop there tomorrow and ask them. I know they can do an axle swap so the truck can be lifted, like the truck in the 4x4 magazine, but I'm going to find out if they can do a heart transplant.

From Dusty's thread, I'm guessing there's a better transfer case out there, right? Last thing I need is parts laying on the ground the first time I engage it, right?

The supercharger is by far easier.

The hemi has better aftermarket support. Your NGC PCM can control an older 03 type hemi with cable throttle body. You will also need fabricated motor mounts and a hemi wiring harness. Your alternator/ac compressor will swap sides so you will need new a/c lines. If you are 4x4 you will need to modify the oil pan for clearance. You will also need SCT tuning.

My 05 with a cold air intake and fiberglass cover is currently getting 17 mpg.
I have helper springs to tow.. and I TOW a 5000+ trailer.
That being said... I weighed in my truck at the scrap yard at 5260 as a QUAD CAB and with 4X4... THAT's a LOT.

However, my cousin weighed in his RAM with a quad cab and 4x4 big horn....
6520 lbs.

Both of us weigh about 240-250

If you figure with my "old" 4.9 making like, 190 hp, and his older hemi making not much more... BUT, almost a 1000 lb difference... well, yeah.
What's the figure? 100 lbs = 1 hp? so tha'ts like a 10 hp difference? I'm guessing that hemi makes more than 200 rwhp
