Default Birthday surprise at the door

Well since I have a b-day coming up I thought I would get myself (or truck) a present.
So I ordered a Superchips 3865, ordered monday got it tuesday installed it today!!!! For now I set it on the 87 tune until I can run the gas down and refill with a little higher octane then I'm gonna try the performance tune. One thing I found out about the TM settings, it comes pre-loaded with a minor TM settings program (verified this with SC by phone) So if you dont want to set the perimeters (shift points, etc) yourself then you DONT have to pay the extra $39.95 but you still get a little TM upgrade which is great I think.

Yep... you are on the right track. So whats your initial opinion of the tuner now that you have joined the club?

I love my tuner, it makes the truck a lot more fun to drive. It makes it so you can drive the truck and be alot more aggresive with the throttle and shifting.

I stick with the performance 91 tune. I went to towing once with 93 octane gas, but it seemed bogged down compared to the performance. Anything I searched on google or the superchips forum claimed that the tow tune was really the 87 tune, just required the higher octane to prevent pinging under load.

Welcome to the club! I had the 91 tune for awhile when gas was cheaper and really could not tell any difference from 87 tune. If gas ever (hoping...) comes back down I may give it another try.....but 87 at $3.79 a gallon seems like a bargain compared to $4.00 for 91 around here....

I also like the towing tune, especially with the Hipotek TB....without messing with the shift schedule, it holds longer...TM is turned way low, I like it!

I went down to Harpers Ferry last weekend, got 19mpg!

Well I can tell its a little more responsive now, not as much lag. The trans also seems to hold the gear a little longer as well.
Did anyone see any kind of MPG increase and if so how much?
