Default Transmission Fluid and Filter change questions...

How many quarts of fluid for a pan drop filter and fluid drain and refill? Mine is a 05 4.7. 4x4.

Also Napa had to order my filter, but seems like when I read various searches of other transmissions, there are "filterS". What does our dakotas have? Thanks guys.

We have 2 filters. A flat pickup filter, and another engine oil looking style.

i just took mine to aamco. the replaced both filters and whatever fluid was lost. i called a few days before and they had the filters/gasket ready for me when i brought it in. most places wont stock all filters all the time. less than $100 with a coupon. well worth it for me.

That should be plenty. I think you'll probably get 4-5 in maybe six. I need to do this to later this spring.

One way to find out is to catch all that comes out and measure it.

6qts if you just drop the pan. 14 qts is you drain the cooler, lines and drop the tranny/pull the torque converter and drain it.

I dropped the pan and replaced the filters just last month and it took about 7 quarts to fill it up.

Just finished up with it yesterday, I took 7 qts exactly to get it between the marks when hot. Advance auto computer called for 6.5 but it ended up needing 7. Thanks for your help guys.
