Default running lean?

This question kinda goes back to my last thread about my truck dying, but I'm outa loot and been trying everything with out taking it in. I have a 4.7 awd with an amsoil panel filter, and amsoil everywhere but brake lines and I recently did the egr, pcv tps, map and iac(yeah all went out tps twice) Is 17.2mpg-17.9mpg on the overhead lean? I do 80 percent highway.

Id say that's great. On the highway I can pull 20+ mpg so at 80% highway mid 17's seems reasonable.

On my last thread I talked about a suit at a parts store that blamed my fairly new tps on running lean and being heated. I pulled my ngk v-powers and had some color but not much after 10000. Would post pic but computer is broke, blackberry only. I'm guessing this a-hole was ticked he had to warranty my tps, but I'm worried cause I have a start up tick and fuel pump whine but those were always there. Thanks guys

What brand TPS went bad?....just curious. The factory Mopar one looked junk (sloppy plastic melted seams) while the Standard brand one looked rally nice.

I have heard that some aftermarket ones fall apart dueto cheap plastic welds..

Also, I don't see how running lean would cause a TPS to go bad...even if you ran hot. I think he was just mouthing off

Overheating has absolutly nothing to do with your tps. What retailer did you purchase it from?

Weaver auto. He said it was heated from running lean, not from me overheating. He said if your lean heat builds up but won't be on the temp gauge. I just want pistons without holes in them like everyone else.

Your knock sensor would remove all your timing because it would ping like crazy. Your O2 sensor would throw a cel and the truck would buck and kick as well.

Well, I bet that parts guy could tell a good fishing story

For whatever reason, these TPS's are little buggers...I have read several stories of DOA, early failure (lotso different brands...the Autozone one is total crap from what I read).

I recently put on the Standard one, so far, so good
