So I was looking at hemifever's web site and I noticed that for the SCT tuners it says only up to 06 daks. So I emailed Sean with my PCM p/n and asked if he could tune my truck and this is what I got back

SCT only tunes through 06. Diablo doesn't do the Dakota pcm's yet but you can email their staff to see when it may be avail. Superchips probably can do It but they won't have custom abilities

So I'm gonna have to call Diablo and find out if and when they will support us. but it's looking like I'm gonna be stuck with Superchips which means I'n not gonna put in the injectors if I can't get a custom tune.

I have an 05 and he had trouble getting my af right...after about 6 months of trial and error we gave up....he put a lot of effort into it tho. good dude

 

So did you leave it or find another way to straighten it out? btw, do you have any pics or videos of your turbo setup?

 

Sean is a great guy, give him time. also there is no difference between the 05/ 07 they changed everything in 08

 

I stuck w one of the last tunes he gave me....still super rich but its good enough to drive til I get some parts ordered and save up for a dyno tune. Around me theyre running close to a grand. Check out Mitsu's turbo talk thread, I think I have pictures and videos in there....maybe . Just bought an electronic boost controller, Ho cams and 4.11 gears....getting them installed in February.

 

I have no dough that he is a good guy. It's just sucks that I can't get a custom tune for my truck. I didn't think that there was a difference between the 05, 06 and 07 but he said that he can't tune my 07 so I guess I'm stuck unless Diablo gets something for our trucks.

 

Sean Powell tuned my truck and always nailed it. With his tune I was running 14psi of boost on a stock bottom end, lol. The only thing he had trouble tuning on my truck were the 50lb injectors.

When I build my next Dakota I will continue with tuning through him.

He can tune 05-07 with the SCT and 08+ with Diablo. He did say the 08+ 4.7L owners were not happy with the Diablo tunes. Not enough noticable difference over stock.

 

Through '06 with SCT. '07+ with Diablo. Diablo (last they said) were hoping to get the Dakota pn's in their database eventually but the '07+ 4.7 Ram's were tunable. It's been a while since I've seen anybody post on the 4.7 stuff with Diablo but there were a bunch of results back in the beginning posted that weren't so favorable. I've only done 1 '07+ 4.7 Ram with Diablo and it was a hemi conversion which was successful. I'm sure I'll get one eventually.

 

Based off this new information I think my next Dakota will be an 06. I will try and find an 06 Quad Cab R/T and transplant an Inertia Motorsports 392 hemi into it.

I know you were able to successfully tune Dusty's 05 Dakota with 5.7L Hemi/6.1L cam after he swapped out the 4.7l. I will do the same, just go with a bigger hemi, and eventually boost lol.
