Need a new windshield
Well, I now need a new windshield.
My driver's side wiper broke. The clip/bracket that holds the wiper to the arm broke off of the wiper blade itself and when the happened the arm hit the windshield and spider-webbed it
. The cracks were only about 2-3 inches long and looked like this _\|/_ (will get pic to day after work). But as we all know the cracks will spread... and they did the / crack spread about halfway up my windshield already. My question is, how much am I looking at to get this replaced and does anybody know if I might be able to negotiate for window tinting (driver's and pass. windows) since I am getting front glass replaced? Thanks everybody

Do you have full coverage? If so, some insurance company's have a separate smaller deductible for items like this, just tell them a rock flew up and hit it. They do not even come out, you just pay the up front cost and they reimburse you when you file it.
It is called a "no-fault" claim, and as such won't raise your premiums

Often, the "no cost" repair relates to chip repairs where it can be done with the silicone injection process and complete windshield replacement means that you need to pay a deductible (I have $150 on mine), although, as jkeaton mentioned, some insurance companies do have "no deductible" options. If you don't have an insurance that covers this, you can replace the glass on your own (not an easy job if you don't have the tools or experience), or negotiate with an auto glass dealer for a cash deal that isn't going to be part of an insurance claim - I paid $150 to replace a windshield for my jeep, but that has really cheap glass.
Thanks for the replies.
Right after work I headed down to my local insurance agent (state farm). I explained to them what happened and my agent told me that I have a $0 deductible for glass replacement. It is already part of my premium/ coverage. If I didn't ask here, then I would have never thought of going through my insurance, Thanks Guys

Nice to hear that insurance is going to replace it for you. One of the things you want to make sure is whoever replaces the windshield, is to have them replace the seal that goes around the windshield.
Some shops to save a buck will use the current windshield seal. This is ok if the windshield seal is fairly new say a couple of years old. If they don’t replace the seal this can come back to haunt you when the next rain storm hits.
I learned the hard way on an old F150 I had when I tried to save a few bucks and not replace the seal. I had almost the same amount of water running down the inside of the windshield as I had hitting the outside of the windshield.
