Hemi Swap 1yr Plan
Hrm... I dunno. I'm torn between a couple things right now.. Finals are coming up for school so I'm 'supposed' to be getting ready for that, and right after that I'm quittin this stupid job and leaving for 2 weeks, and right when I come back, I'll be the FNG somewhere, and then the guy who was going to help me weld up the motor mounts is going to Afghanistan for a government contract.
So I have a tight window of opportunity to make it the easiest swap, but I might miss that and have to figure out how to do the mounts myself. Not a huge deal, but a delay nonetheless.
I'm shooting for August to have a 100% tuned and roadworthy 300+hp Dakota
I'm more worried about miles per set of tires at this point haha.
I'll wing it when it gets here, if it ever does. I'm not too worried about it, I like winter driving, always have. the LSD will make cornering tricky, but taking it easy is the key.
lol.
It's sitting in the garage right now, ready and willing, I have the connectors and wiring sitting right next to it. I just finished off my 4th term at school and still at a 4.0 so I'm going on vacation. When I get back, I will have some random crap to take care of and then I'm ripping the truck apart. That's when the real meat'n potatoes will be served.
Only 4 important things will need to be figured out when the hemi is getting dropped in. Fuel line, power steering, throttle cable bracket, and exactly how we'll weld the motor mounts back up.
I'm getting the Ram 5.7 fuel line from the dealer, and will adapt it to the slightly smaller Dakota line so that is minor, not even sure on how I will do the power steering lines, but it shouldn't be too hard. Throttle cable bracket I will probably widdle out of aluminum or something, or I can get the throttle bracket from a 2002 and prior 4.7 and modify it.
Oh, I also have to do the radiator hoses.. does anyone know the inlet/outlet diameters off hand?

Edit: I used these Gates hoses off RockAuto..
lower hose: Molded Coolant Hose; Center Length = 11.1" / Inside Dia = 1.75"
upper hose: GATES Part # 23043
Molded Coolant Hose; 1 1/2" x 8 13/16"That is definitely right because the upper hose is slimmer than the lower hose to the eye. .25" difference in diameter sounds accurate
