That's Dusty's truck. He's helped me out quite a bit. His has been running strong for almost 4 years. He just put a new 268 comp cam in it and loves it.

I got the motor mount back from the welder today. I forgot to take pictures of it before I painted it but it wasn't much to look at, though he finished it very nicely. I got half the wiring harness cleaned up and half the modifications made to it, but I ran into a snag. I'm not sure what to do about the knock sensors. I accidentally destroyed the 4.7 ones, so I'm left with the new 5.7 ones and connector leads from my junk yard 5.7 harness. These piezo electric devices have polarity and I'm not sure which wire is negative and which is positive. The plug it plugs into on the 4.7 harness is clearly marked with yellow and black wires, but the connectors from the 5.7 harness are seemingly random colors. I may have to buy a new set of 4.7 knock sensors and lengthen the leads.

Check out this wiring diagram site, which works for any vehicle. Maybe it will help you, either now or later on.

Thanks keil, Billy, Paul, and everyone else who's tuned in on this! Thanks dakotaff for the links, that will make things easier when I put the harness back in.

For now I'm not sure what to do with the knock sensors
It won't be terrible though. I will make an educated guess about which is pos. and neg. and if I run in to problems I'll come up with something else.

Tonight I finished the wiring harness modifications, reloomed everything, killed the rust that was under the hood, put OE exhaust manifold gaskets, and painted a whole bunch of random stuff. I am ready to put the torque converter in and drop the motor in to its final place!

Once I bolt up the motor, I need to figure out what radiator hoses I can use, figure out a power steering solution, and install a real trans cooler and power steering cooler. Getting closer, I'll drop some pics in the morning.

Alrighty, I've been hard at work on this swap and at work. I figured out the fuel line, it's perfect and shouldn't leak as far as I can see. I made a throttle linkage out of a scrap piece. Motor is where it will stay now. I just need to work out radiator hoses, heater hoses, and power steering hoses. After that it can be moved to an exhaust shop, I can install my wideband and start tuning this beast. anyways, here's the progress pictures.

Just starting to rebuild the harness.

My new motor mount made locally from the mockup.

Motor being dropped in for the last time hopefully.

And it's in, with the stuff I painted too.

Prototype throttle linkage made from the plug bracket of the old AC compressor.

Here's the test fire! It started right up, I just primed the fuel rail and loaded the base tune from Sean/hemifever and it started up nice!

This is happening a lot faster than I expected. 'specially givin my track record lol.

no f*cking way bro. Is that with the exhaust disconnected? Good work, Preston. Was the dash lit up like a Christmas tree or what?
