Drivetrain ??? ( kickdown, slipping)
My 2007 Dakota does 2 things that I think may be funny, but can't quite put my finger on what they are.
1: I can be at a stop on dry pavement on a solid surface... then hit the gas 2/3 throttle and the trans/ drive-train feels like the back tires are slipping for about 50 feet then it catches and give me no trouble. But I know my tires are not spinning. If I feather the throttle I can keep that "feel" for about 100 feet.
2: I am slowing down to come to a stop, I will watch my RPM's drop until they get to about 1000, then the trans will give a feel of slipping, and instantly downshift. but the rpms will kick up about 50-100 RPM... and then continue to slow.
Is my transmission just on its way out?
I have just over 97K on it.

Sounds like transmission... could be just the torque converter. I'd definitely get it looked at because if it's just the torque converter, then you still have time to have just a $500 repair instead of a $2000 repair if it ends up locking up fully or something.
i would find a guy who knows chrysler trans, they are not a regular type of trans imo
Agreed, I would take it to a trans place. Torque converters aren't too hard.. I would attempt it.. but I've been quite ambitious lately... preparing to try thingsa way beyond my actual skill level lol. I wouldn't try it until a trans guy told me that's what it was though.
Hey I just found new info in this Solid Motor Mount thread.
Blown had a bad motor mount and had this to say..
It's not exactly what you are describing, but it's worth a shot to check the motor mounts just in case. It's a whole lot cheaper than transmission work. Have someone look at your engine bay while you rev, or vice-versa.

But I did just get dodge to replace my fuel tank for 200 bucks; shoot for a free trans??
First owner or second? Why I ask is because of this... http://trucks.about.com/od/2007dodge...powertrain.htm
