Default can i do this

with the hids coming, they have no high beams, i plan on using my hellas as a high beam. with the hids turning off when the high beams are hit on the stalk. is it possible to have the low beams kept on when i hit the stalk and the hellas turn on. for example, i hit the stalk for high beams but it doesnt affect my headlights only my hellas. and then hit it again and have the hellas turn off. is this possible? or is this out of my league?

be honest

i think its totally possible. you have three prongs on your headlight socket. have one for ground, one for lowbeam one for highbeam. you could just connect the low beam to the hids, and highbeams to your hella's. ps. to answer your pm to me, my ballasts are just zip tied upto another wire behind the headlight.

some creative diode/relay work can be done to fix this

tap both high/low beams with diode> trigger relay > HIDs
tap highbeam >relay2>hellas

i can explain in more detail if you so need

the lowbeams might blip during the switch
i dont know if this is ok for the HID ballasts
i think it can be smoothed out with a cap between the diodes and relay for the lowbeams

the arrows represent the diode direction
someone else can chime in on correct sizes

as far as the capacitor to filter the blip idk the correct size needed but it would go in parallel connected to the diode output side/relay

too small and it wont work and too big it would take longer to turn off the relay when you turned off the headlights

also the top relay would also work for keeping your factory fogs on with your highbeams i think

also test it before installing im not responcible for turning your truck into a parts car

yup you have scared me away from this, much appreciated seriously, i think itll just be easier to have a switch on the dash, linked to the hella (soon to be hids)

"can you draw me a picture?"

"AHH!~ run away!"

haha its just what i needed, at first only the diagram came up and im like this isnt too hard and then i went to quote it and then i saw all the explaination, and my thought was my truck blowing up, i just saw it as a wiring nightmare, my brother could have helped me do it, but i despise him. and then i just thought of the switch being the safer option
