Default Stock Exhaust

I think I'd like my new Dak to growl a bit (but nothing too loud). What if I were to remove the resonators (1 or all), would I get any good sound? Would this affect mileage or performance? Or should I just go custom?

This payday I'm gonna order an aero turbine muffler, try w/o the rear res. first and go from there. Know what you mean about quiet I can hear myself think in the truck and that is scary.

A big, wide open intake will do wonders for that quiet. I have a 3.5" CAI and it sounds great when you're on the gas. I'd like a bit more rumble from the exhaust as well, but the intake was a good start.

I did K&N replacement filter, and a bit more exhaust note from that alone. I then removed the muffler (have you seen the size of that thing?), and replaced it with a flowmaster 40 series, but kept both resonators and the stock tailpipes. Nice low rumble, definitely not too loud, but lets you know you have a V-8. Sounds good to me, but ohers like their stuff louder than I do mine. Plus 2-3 more MPG.

Has anyone removed resonators to get more from it?? Just curious if the front or back one should be taken out first.

i took out muffler and put a swirlpack and kept both resonators with airaid intake comming
sounds good and deep and if you romp it it sounds good but on the freeway no resonance or that stupid hummmmmm noise and it has improved gas milage not much but nowadays every mile counts

I had mine done a couple of weeks ago. Had the shop go with 3" pipe cat back with a Flowmaster 40 Series Delta Flow. Nice rumble when idling. Some resonance in the cab until you settle on a speed then pretty quite. Might as well get rid of all the stock stuff. Especially that tank of a muffler. Just don't be hoppin on it in the city or you will for sure draw unwanted attention. That coupled with a K&N filter or CAI makes a difference.

What about dropping 1 resonator, and swapping the stock muffler with a flowmaster?? Will that split the difference b/w too loud and stock?? Any thoughts whether ditching the resonator in front or behind the muffler would be better?
