Default Wheel/Tire Width??

I have a 2008 Dak, its got a 2.5 leveling kit with the blocks in the back.
now im looking to put wider wheels and tires on her but unsure wat would fit with little trimming (the less trimming the better she'll look)

Ideas?

i was looking at 17x9's
or would it be best to just keep the stock 16's and just go wider?

17x9 is doable, but what is the offset of the wheel you're looking at? no lower than +15, no higher than +25 is my suggestion, plus the tire diameter is important too. outside of those offsets and you will probably be trimming, and within those offsets you may trim anyways if you get a big tire. a wider tire won't be too bad.

I can order them with any offset
What would be best?

For a 9" wide wheel, an offset of 18 mm would be perfect. That is available for a lot of wheels.

I'm assuming that the 9" reference is to the rim width, if so, this will comfortably handle a tire of around 11 - 12" width. I'm installing a 2" leveling kit and a 3" body lift and with my recent test fit, I can go with a tire diameter of anything under 33" will fit into the wheel well with some possible need to trim. This test fit was using a rim with an offset of 25mm (which is roughly 1" - an 18" offset would push the tire out by approximately 1/4" as compared to mine.). I'm looking at using a Nitto Terra Grappler 285/70-17

The width of Dakota stock alloy wheels are 8", and an offset of 25.44 mm. The stock steel wheels are 7" wide.

Don't worry about backspacing. The offset and wheel width covers backspacing together. Some wheels in the past had weird inner shapes but most wheels today give tons on space inside for clearances.
