Default The OFFICIAL Lift and Tire Size Thread

I hope this can become a "sticky".

Keep in mind, if you reduce your factory backspacing...prepare for additional trimming. Also, consider tire choice (A/Ts and M/Ts will require a little more trimming)

3G Dakota factory tire sizes
-245/70/16 (29.5 x 9.6 x 16)
-265/70/16 (30.6 x 10.4 x 16, No trimming with factory lift but adding wheel spacers requires slight trimming)
-265/65/17 (30.6 x 10.4 x 17)
-265/60/18

3G Dakota tire sizes with factory lift and slight triming
-265/75/16 (31.6 x 10.4 x 16)
-265/70/17 (31.6 x 10.4 x 17)
-265/65/18 (31.6 x 10.4 x 18)

3G Dakota tire sizes with 1.5" or 2.0" leveling kit with zero to slight triming
-265/75/16 (31.6 x 10.4 x 16)
-265/70/17 (31.6 x 10.4 x 17)
-265/65/18 (31.6 x 10.4 x 18)

3G Dakota tire sizes with 1.5" or 2.0" leveling kit with serious triming
-285/75/16 (32.8 x 11.2 x 16)
-285/70/17 (32.7 x 11.2 x 17)
-285/65/18 (32.6 x 11.2 x 18)

3G Dakota tire sizes with 1.5" or 2.0" leveling kit, 3" body lift with minor triming
-285/75/16 (32.8 x 11.2 x 16)
-285/70/17 (32.7 x 11.2 x 17)
-285/65/18 (32.6 x 11.2 x 18)

-305/65/17 (32.6 x 12 x 17)
-285/65/18 (32.6 x 11.2 x 18)

Added the 265/60/18 tire size that came on some of the later 3rd Gens from the factory.

Figured I would throw in, JMR 6" + 3" Body Lift could easily clear 37's, with maybe some minor trimming.

I am under the asumption that these tire sizes only apply to 4X4 models?

I just purchased a 2wd '08 Extended Cab. Going to have 2 Goodyear Authority's
from Wally World put on the rear next Friday. 245/75/16's. Allready have 2 really nice used 245/75/16 Cooper Disc. ST tires to put on the front.
Mind you, my truck will be used for 90% driving to work & back and 10% hauling in chopped wood in the winter months.
Would like to run 265/75/16 Duratracs on all 4 corners the next time around.
I just put (2 months ago) a brand new set of 33x10.50x15 BFG AT KO's on my '94 Trooper. Cant say I am all that impressed with the BFG's, in spite of the $960 it cost me for them.

4x4 and 4x2 models have the same suspension and clearance.
