I acquired this veh in Jan 2012, 42000 miles, I am now having the ring and pinion replaced. Then will be back to working on the problem we have been discussing. Glad I bought into a extended warranty when I bought this animal. I will update when I get news, thanks for asking.

Update; Nothing on the trans problem. I am fighting a ring and pinion problem now.The dealership has had truck for two weeks. They say they have put in two sets of gears and both were worse than the original set, The problem is whining when you let off gas at 50 miles per hr. They recd the gears from two diff distributors, Chrysler is back ordered on these, according to drlship. Truck only has 45000 miles. Any suggestion?

Maybe they should get one from the junkyard. Possible that they are not following manufacturer instructions for shim tolerances and backlash. If they are not using oem (you mentioned other distributers) they may be following service manual specs that don't necessarily match after market manufacturer specs.

This is most likely a trans problem, a lockup Torque Converter issue. I just posted another answer to this. Mine did exactly the same thing, and sure felt like a miss, but it wasn't. I read the codes every day for weeks, and no codes thrown. If it was a miss, it would certainly throw a code, as misses are always caught by the engine control system, both acoustically and electrically.

I tried a zillion things (replaced every stinkin sensor), and took a shot that maybe the trans needed a good douche. Sure enough, took it to an awesome AAMCO trans egghead (in riverdale NJ), who drove it once, and said he knew what to do. It was the lockup not being sure what to do at speed where it normally locks, and it would cycle on and off over and over, making it feel like a miss, and sometimes a combo of a miss and a bad driveshaft, where I thought it was a bum rear end, or pinion, or U joint plus a bad miss.

Changed the filters, then put an additive in to deal with the cranky lockup converter, and alas, all is better. Runs freakin great.

No kidding? Got any idea what kind of additive it was? If not, where in Riverdale and what is his name? I'll make the trip for a guy who knows what he's doing/talking about, i'm only in Union. And was your truck in and out same day? Oh, and how much did they bang you for the service?

It was the AAMCO in Riverdale on Route 23. I think the guys name is Mike. One of those guys that has a sixth sense. Not sure what the additive was, but he knew immediately what should be tried first. It was some lubricant supplement that addresses the flaky lockup behavior. It was only a quick job, I think it was the same day. Only cost less than $200, including the filters and special slime for the converter

Finally got the truck from the dealership with new ring and pinion. Now back to the maybe trans problem. I did talk with my local AAMCO about the post fix on Nanoheads truck. AAMCO stated that he thought this fix would be a temporay fix. How long ago did You get your trans work done and is it still going strong now.

Update to my FEELS LIKE A MISS problem. I have talked to many and done some research. I have bought a product called TRANNY DR. which is made by LUBEGARD, at O Reillys auto parts. Squeeze the product straight into the trans, seems to have started working on the shutter, they call it, not me. I will update further after I have maybe 50 miles with this stuff

Default Same problems.

I would be very interested in your results.

Sorry if I never introduced myself on the forum. My name is Tom and I live in C.T. I've been following for a year or 2 now. I have a 2008 4.7 4x4 with the same EXACT problems.

It seemed to start when I found a pending code for tranny "low pressure" or something similar @ approx 36K.
I did a filter change with a Wicks filter kit and Mopar fluid.
That's when i think I started noticing it. It's hard to tell, the tranny has always felt ( bought it with 20k) a little off in it's shifting characteristics.

About a month ago, I read about the Dr. Tranny Instant shudder fix. No one around here sold it but I found the LUBEGUARD Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) Protectant with LXE® Technology at NAPA for $10 a bottle. I bought it put it in. It seemed to help the tranny shift better but I could still feel the hesitation/shutter/miss between 35-50.

I then read that people were having problems with the Wicks filter because Wicks had copied the original Mopar design.
So at 56K now, I did a fluid/filter change with Mopar OEM filters and fluid.
Still has the same symtoms.

There are 2 other wierd quirks the tranny has. when I shift into reverse in the moring there is a noticeable RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRack. It's done it for 2 years now since I bought it.

The past week or 2 (getting cold in the morning) it almost sounds like a slight ring or whine while its warming up in the driveway. Almost like you can hear fluid flow or something from the bell housing.
