Default Can this Ram tailgate strut kit fit the Dakota?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-DODGE-RAM-1500-2500-3500-DEE-ZEE-Tailgate-EZ-Down-Strut-System-Kit-/290717825330?_trksid=p2054897.l4276

We desperately need something like this. Last time I checked there was just no room for the strut on the Dakota after closing the tailgate.

So?

That was three and half a year ago for which there is still no answer. And where does it say nobody can repeat a question on this board. Ever. By the way, very impressed by your "opposition research".

Wow Dak.. 3 and a half years and you haven't just bought one? What's up with that? LoL...

You give one of the Moderators some grief when obviously all he was trying to do was help find an answer. Pulled a simple search and your old thread popped up. Not cool..

Especially when all it takes is a ruler and a quick visit to someone's 1500. Then measure out your Dak to see if it has the same space available. Don't the Dakotas and 1500s use the same tailgate cable?

Hold your horses there guy. No one said you couldn't "re-ask" a question. However, a simple " Well, lets try this again. I posted this question a few years ago with no answer. Anyone know about this yet?" Or, "Hey admins, I know this was already asked, but we haven't had any luck. If this is a problem, PM me." Then proceed with re-asking the question.

Instead of being objective, try being proactive. Its a lot easier to read someone via typing when they are more humble.

Ex-nay the stabs at the end of your post. That was not necessary. If you have a problem with Jkeaton, or any member, take it up in the PMs.

To answer your question, I was under the impression that the only thing available was the "dual position" feature on the 3G"B" trucks. It is a mount that holds the cable so that the tailgate only travels half the distance to 90 degrees. But I agree, we need the strut assist in the worst way.

The cable length doesn't mean anything if there is no room behind the gate for the strut. Besides, I don't know anyone with a Ram of any kind. I could pick one in a parking lot or take a tape measure to my local Dodge dealer OR, what I was actually hoping, that someone who has actually done it could post here.

My work has a 2012 Ram 1500 Crew Cab (havnt looked at the tailgate). My 05 Dak, Has room between the Gate and side, maybe enough to fit that.

Also on a side note, I hate his Ram, I drove it today, got out and slipped on the OEM running board as the foot pad it to far forward.

Am I missing the point in doing this as a mod? Is there any harm in just letting the tailgate drop?
