2005 dakota lowering shackle questions
Hi guys new to this forum and new to owning a dakota. I've been doing some research on lowering and found the thread that recommended canuckmotorsports lowering shackles. I purchased them but now that they've arrived wondering exactly how they work, it looks like once installed the leaf spring will be mounted much higher than before? I'll attach a picture of the new shackle and the shackle currently installed on the truck, any help is appreciated

you are correct. With a longer swing shackle, the rear leaf springs will be mounted higher in relation to the frame, bringing the rear frame lower to the ground. This only functions for the rear of course. If you have 2" lowering shackles, this should take the rake completely out making the front and rear level to eachother.

Sorry I didn't get your PM til just now. That is the correct part. Unlike a Jeep or many other leaf spring vehicles, our shackles are upside down.. more like hangers. The longer the shackle, the lower you go. You'll get about 1.5" out of it. I removed my flat overload leaf to get another 3/8th or so. I'd like to go back to stock on the shackle, put the leaf back and do an axle perch swap to bring the axle to the other side of the springs. That would give about 3-4"

My new spring perches were welded to the axle tube underneath, but the originals are still there on top.
Front was only replacement coilovers which could be switched back, if you keep the stockers. (I didn't.)
