Talking Happy to see mailman today

Had a nice box arrive today.

6x9 power heated mirrors. Can't wait to get rid of those crappy sporty mirrors. Now to find the time to install them. I'll do a full write up with pics on installing them unless one already exists.

Does anyone know if we can just wire in a switch to make the heat work? I don't have defrost on my read window, i just want to wire in my own switch and put it somewhere. Which wire controls the heat in the wiring harness? I would use a relay on the switch and run power through something with high amps and wire it so it's only when the truck is on.

I'll have to follow this also. I have a 2011. Not sure the heated mirrors would be a huge benefit for me but I can't ignore the option either.

I think getting the heat to work is only possible with a new cust0m switch. You're not going to get them working the OEM way.

A custom switch is the way i want to go, but i don't know what wire in the harness i need to connect to. Even if i just know which wire from the mirror connector that i need to tap to, i'll string up a new wire to be able to connect to my switch and relay. I'll add the switch to a panel that i'll add in the little blank spot between the 4WD and AUX power plugs.

The wire should be Dark Blue, with a Gray tracer.

new mirrors installed. Pics to come along with a whole post on steps to install.

I did find out that the harness going to the mirrors doesn't have wires for the heat. I will have to fish wires all the way up. I'll do this some time this summer when i have more time, and accessible funds for that and a few other projects i want to do on the truck. Next step is fixing my spray in bed liner, then some custom painting.
