Default Wont turn over

Seems always to start when cold, but intermittently when I turn the key I get absolutely nothing. Battery is new.

Battery cables, connections. Grounds. Check them.

Also, please add your vehicle specifics.

Default 4.7L flex fuel

Battery connections all clean. I’m thinking positive starter cable.

What vehicle? What year? What engine? How many miles? We don't even know what you are working on.

Swap starter relay with identical relay, such as AC compressor relay. If working consistently, replace relay.

Default ‘07 Dakota, 4.7

Swapped relay, got nothing. Ran cable directly from battery to starter, nothing. Stuck a screwdriver across posts on starter and got lots of spark. I believe that means bad starter?

If the starter didn't turn when you did that, yeah, probably bad starter.

Does the relay "click" when you turn the key? You may need another person to listen as it can be hard to hear from the drivers seat. Try powering the small terminal on the solenoid and see if that works.
