HO performance
Well I'm getting ready to order my replacement Dak (07) and I decided that I want to change the 4X4 (shift ion the fly) part time) to the full time AWD transfer case for $395.00 extra. Guess what, you can't get the full time AWD with the HO. The full time is only available on the 4.7 standard Flex Fuel engine but not the HO and that makes no sense. So I'm not sure if the HO is all that much of a performer than the standard 4.7 and since my present lemon run so bad I can't tell the benefit of an HO. Can anyone give me their opinion on the HO benefit in terms of performance differences?
Just remember that the HO 4.7 has to run on premium to acheive those numbers, on regular gas it wouldn't be that much more powerful plus you'll probably get crappier mileage with 87. I would seriously look into another truck, especially after the problems you had with your's. The tundra's are really looking good to me with the 0% for 60 months right now. At least their 4.7 runs on regular and makes more hp than the dodge HO's do on premium.
Yep I just might have to let the Dak thing go. They just seem not to be able to get it together. What a disapointment! Can't say I didn't give Dodge a honest try but they just seem to shoot themselves in the foot most of the time.
I thought you were suppose to get a "Toy"ota?.....you don't even have your new 07 and you are already complaining about what it does not have.......see a pattern here hehe......mark my words, I bet $100.00 within a month after graythang has his new truck he will start posting all the problems he is having with it and how much better a Toyota truck is.......lets see if I am wrong
Just so you know, the AWD isn't all that great. You loose more power because of the AWD. I found that out a couple of weeks ago. The couple of good things is you don't spin your tires and you can take turns a lot faster than you would be able to with a two wheel driven vehicle. The bad part is you can't burn rubber with AWD, I guess that's a good thing if you don't burn rubber on a daily basis and can't afford to buy new tires each year.
I like it for the safety of driving, but I don't like it because of the loss of power.

Here's some advice someone gave out about buying a new Dakota, hope it helps Gray ,,,,,,quote,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I know I'm going to be bitched at here by some but if you haven’t already test drove the Tundra, you might want to. I think the Dak looks better but as far as ride and out and out quality and price point factor the Tundra is a better deal all around. Reliability, build quality (QC) all hands down a better truck. If I wasn't an idiot and took advantage of a sales deal at Dodge I would had been in the Tundra and like everyone I know including my brother in law on his second, they absolutely love these trucks.
