Ordering a car from Dodge is a joke
I am about as mad at this ordering process as I can get.
Its really nice that nobody at Dodge has a freakin clue on when I might ever see my R/T. I ordered this thing on March 19th 4 days before Hooty 1919 ordered his.
Well Guess what Insight says our cars were being mademade. WOW 2 month later they decide to build them. Fast forward to this week. Hooty has his car arrive at the dealer on Monday. AGAIN I ordered 4 days ahead of him. I was showing online I was to get my R/T on June 1....oh wait Dodge changes it to June 2.....again a change to June 3...Well June 3 has come and now about gone. Call dealer and they have no car. Call Dodge and they have no idea of when its coming and where it is.
Now I look on Insight and it shows car left facility on 5/31. They changed the Insight info and took off the date I was to get the R/T.
Is this normal for Dodge to do this crap to people who are waiting for presold cars. Or dont they give a crap and just send cars out to dealers to set on lots that are not sold yet.
I found a Stone White R/T with almost same options we ordered 100 miles away. I about to tell my dealer to stick the order and go buy the one on the lot a 100 miles away.
I have always been a fan of Dodge going way back but this is the worst time I have ever had in ordering a new car.
Hope this thing is worth it.

Wow... you have more tollerance than I..
Please don't tell me you are having to make payments on it when you have not yet received it...
I'd be making an appointment with the sales manager to ensure Dodge has some intent on delivering the car... before it becomes a classic!

I feel your pain Double D. I ordered mine on Feb 29th and it went to D status 2 weeks later. Dodge claimed that it would be built within 2 weeks (4 weeks). I got it 8 weeks after that.
The thing that pissed me off the most is that Dodge was giving everyone the run around. The owners of the dealership finally had to intervene to get some piece of information from the factory. The regional sales manager for the area also had to go a couple people up the chain to get some information. I don't understand why Dodge can't communicate. Its almost as if they are hiding something.
One thing I will say is that my dealer (Capital City Dodge, Jefferson City Mo) and sales guy (Glen Campbell) couldn't have been any better. They actually gave me a van on there dollar while I waited for my Durango. If anyone is in the mid-Missouri area and want a Dodge or Nissan I would check them out.
I hope you get your ride soon.

Thanks for listening to my rant

I call Dodge and get some chick with a computer telling me BS info that is not even close to what Insight says. Today I was told my R/T shipped out on the 27th. I laughed at her and she asks what is so funny. I told her hell it was shuttled to the facility on 5/31 so how could it have shipped out. She asked me where i was getting my informaiton. I said Insight and she changed here tune. I told her I am wathing this thing all day and know exactly how I am getting jacked around. She wante dot put me on the phone with customer relations to see if they could do something for me. i said can they tell me where it is and she said no. So I said well its not worth the time to talk to them yet.
So I guess at this point I am going to wait till Monday and go down to the dealership and ask them to make some calls and find otu what is going on.
I know they have a Stone White Crew on order as well that should be on same truck.

Double D,
I actually can't believe that mine came in as quick as it did. From some of the stories I heard about shipping, I thought it was going to take weeks to get mine. Getting it as quick as I did wasn't worth the damage that they did to my tailgate though.
If the one at the other dealer doesn't have the options that you truly want, I wouldn't settle on that one. Wait to get what you want. When my customers settle for something they are almost always back to get what they truly wanted.
What frustrated me the most was that they can't tell you anything about your order. For the longest time I thought the redline red paint was the reason I was waiting for so long. I almost had my dealer look for another color R/T that he could get from another dealer. This is what I would suggest you do if you want the other one. Give them the chance to get one for you, it's not your dealers fault they can't ship it to you quickly.
I absolutely love the red on this thing. I'm very glad I didn't settle for another color. Almost everyone I pass stares at it the whole way by! For me it was worth the wait.
I understand your ongoing frustration and hope they get it to you quickly with no damage.

My Dodge order took 12 weeks to fill. What is Dodge hiding? The fact that sales of the Durango are red hot, that's what. Sounds like they are following the old adage to sell no wine before its time.
As for whine instead of wine... we are getting a lot of that. I thought patience was a virtue?
Also, there was this little thing call an earthquake that shut down the entire auto industry but hell, who cares about a destroyed country, forced time off of work, plant shut downs here in the US and Japan and thousands of dead people. You want your vehicle NOW right?!

You can bang your head all you want
the simple fact of people who have ordered after me Hooty and a couple others I know have thier truck and I dont. We are like 6 maybe 7 hours from where they are made. I would have drove thier to get the car if allowed to. We took the option for plant delivery on our Corvette. Thats a great experience if you ask me. It was a 1300.00 option versus 850.00 for the destination fee but so worth it.
Yes I am ranting on about this as we were told we would have the car by the end of April.
We were told by Dodge and the dealer it was to be delivered on June 1, Then a call June 2 Then a call June 3. Now is June 4 and no info. So tell me how an earthquake can change the course over the last few days on where and when this car might get here.
Its a shame what happened in Japan and can only imagine how horrible it is there. I have asked a few times early on if the earthquake was causing any delays for the build and was told no each and everytime that th ebuild would not be effected.

I am sure its going to be a nice ride. We are just getting very pissed having sold our other car this is replacing back in April when the dealer told me this would be here. Yours and 6 others now have thier car and ordered after me. Kinda like going out to eat and your seated and order is already in for your dinner and another couple walks in. They order and the food comes out before yours. The most frustrating thing is them telling nothing at all on whats going on.
Sorry to hear your troubles. I ordered mine Mar 8 got it May 13, and I was just as anxious as you to get it. I do know that there is no special consideration if a vehicle order has a sold status. Also, the date that a dealer orders a vehicle has nothing to do when they actually get it so it is very possible that a dealer who orders a vehicle after another may very well get there order first. I hope you get it soon, you will enjoy it.
