Default 11 R/T Smoking at startup

Hey guys, its been a while since I posted here. Still loving my R/T.

Recently I have noticed that it has a pretty good puff of smoke from the tail pipes when I start it up. Its a whitish smoke (doesn't dissipate like water vapor). The best I can describe it is exactly like my 84 Camaro smoked when the valve seals leaked oil.

It only seems to happen when I park at a incline (front higher than back) for 8 hours or so. The incline is nothing huge, maybe 4 feet rise over 2 car lengths.

Checked the oil, it seems normal. Should this concern me? I have 7000 miles on the car.

take it to the dealer and find a place to park it overnight so that they can see it,

as long as it is under warranty it cannot hurt to have them look at it.

- I understand, its not the cold start up. There is a cloud of smoke that shoots out and floats off on it own before the normal water vapor starts showing up.

I'm planning to take it to the dealer next month for an oil change any way. Luckily they have a good incline that I can park on. I'll update this thread when I learn more.

One more question. Are there any tests that I should ask the dealer to do? Will a compression test flush this problem out?

I've looked around the net a bit and found a few other posts (mainly on this forum) where people have seen this from a 5.7 Hemi. None of them seemed to have a resolution.

Mine did it once and it hasn't done it since. Slight incline on my driveway. I usually back in though.

I hope your problem is not the same as my 08 Limited that I just traded in for my 2011 Citadel. My 08 had 12k miles on it when I first noticed the problem of lossing 2qts betweem Oil Changes. I change my Oil every 3k and when i took it to the dealer for a FREE Oil Change they asked if I knew that I was 2 qts low and I was shocked to hear this. At 15K I took it for another oil chg and once again 2 qts low. My vehicle is only driven locally and NO ROAD trips > 100 miles ever. After the 15k Oil Chg I monitored it closely and ck'd the level @ 16.5k and it was 1qt low at this point. I took it in ands they ck'd for the all the normal problems associated to a leak and consumptiom and nothing was found to be wrong. Well as the story goes on same issue by the time I reached 18k. Dealers commnet back that DODGE/ CHRYLSER say it is OK for a HEMI to use this amount every 3k Miles.

I have had 3 other Hemi's, 1 Road Track Charger and 2 Other Durangos and none of those had this type of Oil Issue. I have also owned numerous other Cars to include 2 Hot Rods with nicely tweaked engines along with 2 Boats that ran 5000 RPM @ WOT. None of these toys or any of my past cars ate oil like my last Hemi.

Watch It CLOSELY

I had it happen once on my '12 R/T......but I was only parked for maybe 30 minutes, on an incline. Smoked like crazy on startup but I haven't noticed it since.
