Another issue with my 2012 Durango - Remote Start
The thing I don't understand is why does it work perfectly fine in my early build 2011, but in some 2011s and 2012s it doesn't work? Why would they mess with the software between build years?
I do not know the answer to that question exactly, but it could have been a change to the 2011 model and the parts used on the early builds were from what was left from 2010. Not sure what part is the problem so I cannot check. I suspect a module of some sort but I do not know for certain.
As entertaining as this is, and I'm sure as it'll continue to be, this thread has taken a turn.
It started because someone couldn't figure out why their a/c didn't work when they remote started their vehicle. Once it was leaned that there was a bug, DodgeCares announced that Dodge is aware of this and is working on a fix which was expected to be released on Aug 13.
That day came and went and, yes, we're all pissed however the conversations now are just becoming juvenile and insulting... not what these forums are intended.
Before you say, "If you don't like it then unsubscribe" I, too, am waiting for DodgeCares to announce the release date.

I had the D in the dealer the other day for an oil change and mentioned the Auto Comfort problem that my D also suffers from. He did some research and told me that the fix is now scheduled for delivery sometime in October.
I love what my original post has evolved into...are we upset it does not work in our cars...YES, but calling names and acting like children is uncalled for. I am happy that certain people in certain places through Chrysler know about the problem and that there is a fix on its way...hopefully sooner than later. Yes corporate deadlines and fake eta's suck but its part of horrible business practices that we are unfortunate enough to have to deal with. Until then keep up the drama show here on my thread! I enjoy reading it more than watching any of the reality tv shows on right now!
I was also wondering, lkrouse, if you were able to get the Technical Service Bulletin number?
I've had my dealership looking and they say they can't find anything. i've also had a case agent at Dodge.com following up with me about this issue and, just today, she is going to follow up with my dealership. She says she can't find this specific info on her own but will go through the dealership, so she's helpful that way but doesn't really know anything about specifics.
Thanks,
~Eric
Great to hear that this is being worked on. My D (built in March of 2012 I believe) does the same thing. Set system to Auto, use remote start, but AC doesn't come on until you get in and power it up. I didn't read the manual entirely (since it didn't come with one) but just assumed that it was how it would be.
Of course my last car had a few dash lights out, check engine light on permanently, broken CD player, and to open the fuel filler door I had to use a stick to pry the door while pressing the release button. So I am so thrilled with the new D that this seems like a pretty minor issue.

I just got me 2012 citadel, and I tested this the other day just out of curiosity. If my AC was set to AUTO when I left the car, the AC starts up fine and the cooled seats gets set to '1 bar' cold setting when using the remote start. It does take a while to cool because the air is not being circulated but I had it running for about 7 minutes and you could definitely feel it was 'cooler' in the vehicle and got cold quicker when I hit the road. Probably because of the airflow and precharging of the AC when under remote start.
