I think the issue may be linked to the actual a/c head unit as well. If you look at the two pictures below, you can tell that the display for the climate control is different. My Durango (2011) has the first display, and my buddy's Durango (2012) has the second display. My remote start and a/c work perfectly every time. A/C comes on full blast when remote start is activated. My buddies 2012, same problem everyone on here is talking about. Just blows warm air. Just figured I'd give some of this info so maybe you can have your dealer or Dodge look at the actual unit as well as the software.

As you can tell from the below pictures, the display is different. The 2011 has a flat line for the fan speed and the 2012 has a curved line for fan speed. Don't know if this is the culprit, but it is a difference between one that works and one that does not.

2012 Durango

From looking on line too, it looks like the 2013 have the same climate control display as the 2012 above. But some 2012's have the older display that the 2011's have. Not sure what prompted the change in the middle of the 2012 build year.

It's certainly a theory but i have a 2012 Crew with the infamous remote start issue. I had my D in the shop for a couple of days. They gave me an identical 2012 Crew model loaner off the lot with the same options including remote start and same ac display as mine. The only difference between my D and the one off the lot....the remote start worked flawlessly on the D from the lot.

Default Prospective Customer

I'm in the middle of doing research for a new crossover, and right now my top two canditates are the Durango and the Acadia. Hoping my minivan holds out for another 6+ months so I can get to choose between the 21013 GMC refresh and the at the 2014 Durango refresh with (hopefully) the 8 speed tranny...

Anyway, this is the kind of thing that worries me. How long does it take to get issues fixed once they are identified? I'm keeping my eye on this thread to see how these customers are taken care of...

I had my D checked out by the local dealer here in Riyadh last week but he had never heard of this issue and had no complaints before mine re remote starts. Was very skeptical at first but once I demonstrated the issue to him he promised to look into it and get back to me. Hopefully he would be brought up to speed on this issue by Chrysler.

Unhappy 2nd Durango and same issue

I bought a new 2012 Citidale 4 1/2 months ago and 3 weeks ago the dealership replaced it with a 2013 exact same modle due to mine being a lemon. One of the issues on the 2012 was the a/c compressor would not come on with remote start. Low and behold this one does it also. I love my car. The dealership was very good to me. When I called them with issue #11 they told me to bring it in. When I got there they had the new one waiting and said they wanted to make things right. It was not hot out that day or several days after. Now that we have had a few warm days I notice that this one is doing the same thing. The dealer was never able to fix the issue on my other one. I have noticed in both that when I turn off the truck after the a/c was just running and remote start it with in a few min. like 3-5 the compressor will come on most of the time, but if it has sat for even 10 min ( to run into the store ) and I try it then it will not work. This is sooooo frustrating. I spent $48,000.00 on a vehicle and I am already on the second one. When will this issue be fixed. I say if they cant fix it replace the entire a/c system that will work with remote start. My husband got a 2012 Ram 1 week before me and his a/c works just fine with remote start. Hope we get answers soon.

I don't really want to dilute this thread, but can you share the other issues you had that resulted in it being returned as a lemon? You can send me a PM if you prefer not to post it in this thread. Thanks!

Replacing the AC will do nothing, as it is a software issue. They were supposed to come out with an update in August but it was delayed. Ask them to check on that.

Now that it is getting colder here in the Great Lakes area, tested the remote start function with heat set to engage. That does not work either. Really sucks because I park outside and would be nice to get in a defrosted warm vehicle on those early hockey mornings!! Interestingly enough, I tested while I was locked in the car, and as soon as I adjusted the fan speed, the climate control panel came to life and started working. Also seems to work if vehicle is unlocked after remote start.

Apparently, a TSB on this issue is to be released in the next couple weeks:

(Jeep Grand Cherokees have had the same problem.)
