Default Some Underhood Temps I Recorded

I had some fun zapping around the engine compartment on the R/T with my lazer temp gauge. All temps are an average of 3 recordings with engine fully warmed up on 2 different (75 degree & 78 degree) days with engine off. Temperatures recorded immediately after shutoff. Coolant temp average was 205.

Exh. Manifold. 396 degrees
Engine firewall 216 degrees
Driver Head. 198 degrees
Engine cover. 139 degrees
PCM. 127 degrees
fuse box 122 degrees
Volant intake tube. 116 degrees
Hypertech unit. 108 degrees
Volant Air filter. 96 degrees

More to come.

I haven't gotten mine yet but how much cable do they give you to work with? Is the unit too big to mount in the mopar intake area? It's hard to get any ideas until you are in there wiring. Thanks for the info, and damn it gets hot by that fuse box. We're those at standing temps or after driving around?

Trying to think of a place with airflow and no water so it seems like a likely spot depending on room. Did you get yours installed yet?

Got a 180 thermostat to install tomorrow. I'll retake these temps after the install but don't expect them to be drastically different till I get a fan switch done up. There is an area directly below the pass side headlight where there is airflow. I will attach my homemade aluminum" hypertech protection device" box to the frame down there. It was 81 degrees in that area during the tests.

Mine is installed in the location that hypertech states under the fuse box. I will remove it this weekend and get it watertight.

Seems to be to many worrysome Hyper tech mentions lately. When I mod something I want it to be like that dude with the "Chicken Oven", "SET IT AND FORGET IT" I dont want to go back a few weeks later and worry about melting, leaking, smoke, whatever the case may be. Im leaving this mod alone for a while, even Jeep forum had some concerns on there.

Just my two cents, I dont get time to mod when I get the mod, let alone worry about checking the dam thing a week after the fact, so maybe just cosmetci mods are best for me for now

I used to get nervous flashing my ecu when had the SCT and my f250. The SCT would store the factory program and write the new tune to the ecu. If something happened to the truck ecu or programmer and you couldn't restore your factory tune... Goodbye warranty. So I like the ability to just unplug it and none the wiser. Besides, I'm not looking for 1/4 mile records just better throttle response. I don't know where the jeep guy had his unit installed so the hypertech recommended location might be fine... They are ultimately responsible for testing they're unit under the hood before they offer it.I haven't read any other real issues and usually you only hear the bad and not the good online.
