Superchips Questions and Updates
#2721
Hey guys. My father in law bought a 2004 Ram 1500 with the 4.8 engine. Does he have any options for programers? From what i see on their websites neither SC or Diablo are compatible. Any one know if either of them are working on one for it?
Thanks,
Larry

Unfortunately we don't offer update support for the Mac OS. What has worked for Mac users in the past is to get a ******* OS of Windows added their PC which will allow updates to be performed.

I have a check engine light on in my truck and plug my SC 3865 into it to retrieve the codes and it says none exist. i plug my 3815 from my other truck into it and it will get me the codes. Why won't the 3865 get the codes?

Your Superchips programmer only reads codes from the modules it works with (Engine/Trans). If you don't see any codes using the programmer then more than likely it's another computer not controlled by the programmer such as a body control module.

I'm considering purchasing the 3865, mainly because I want better performance when towing my travel trailer. How easy is it to install? I've been searching for a pdf of the installation instructions but haven't had much luck. And once it's installed, can you mount it somewhere, or where do you set it when you're driving? I guess I'm not totally clear on the operation of it.

This is very easy to install, Superchips does not have a dash unit like other tuners. So you can not monitor things on the fly very easily. You plug the unit in under your driving wheel in your ODBII port ( I may have written that name down wrong) and follow the instructions to tune the vehicle. Then unplug and store in the truck somewhere or in the house.
Very simple install. GL with the Unit!

I'm thinking about getting a Superchips for my 2002 Durango 4x4 with the 4.7L. Would the 87 tune be better than the factory tune as far as more horsepower/torque and better gas mileage? Also does this tuner affect the transmission at all? I hate how this tranny shifts. If I give it just a little gas to accellerate, instead of just going the thing drops down and revs to 3,000 RPM. And I'm talking like from 50-60MPH with very little gas. Also when I want it to upshift it lingers at high RPM's for way too long. If this is how all Dodge trannys are I will not be buying another.

I received my 3865 and did the install, I wanted it to program my trans and after the install Im not impressed with the shifting, so I was looking on superchips website and to program the trans I need to download a app. for 39.95 I did not know I had to pay extra for something I thought was part of the 329.00........my engine runs A little and I mean a little better, could just be the full tank of 91 fuel. who knows. but its not worth 329.00. I 'm sending it back. ASAP
