What is the worst design flaw in the 3rd gens?
How do you tell if youve got the lsd rear, I just bought an 08 QC 1500 Lone Star Ed. w/10500 on odo. So 15k (oil change in rear) will be in about 5 months for my driving habits. My first complaint is the drivers seat where your but slides out, seems like the foam there is damaged or something. It does not look the same as the passenger side (has slight bump, drivers side more flat). Going to take it back and get that fixed if I find that its damaged.
Just to let you know IMO i wold rather have my gas stolen rather than a hole in my tank b/c thats what they do most of the time.. But then you wouldnt have a protextion against thingsbeing put into your tank then..
I have a squeek in the front of mine too. It sounds like something rubbing on the inside of the fender, I just spray som WD-40 in there and it goes away sometimes Son-of -a-Gun too.
I had a squeak in the front-end also; it turned out to be the hood rubbing against the rubber bumpers.
As a previous owner of an '03 Ram and a current owner of an '07 F-150, here are my thoughts:
Flaws in the Ram:
- Cheap materials in the interior.
- Why do away with the extended cab?
- Consitent "check engine" light. I was from a P0440 (if I remember right). In checking the forums, it seems fairly common. Never did get it fixed.
- Nit-picky, but the displays on the console above the mirror and on the radio are really aged -- looks like they were the same ones from a 1980 K-car
- VERY easy to break into. After mine was stolen, a bodyshop showed me how it was done -- takes about a minute if you know how to do it, which is compounded by:
- Earlier models did not have a chip-in-key to prevent theft. I think this was introduced in 2007.
- Stock Good-Year tires would slip if the forecast for two days from today was for snow
- Once you've lifted an F-150 tailgate, you'll think the Ram's weighed a ton.
- Shocks did not last very long
Good things: Hemi power and the transmission. The huge amount of space behind the seat on a regular cab was great also.

Ford has thier issue's, I'm a Ex F-150 owner, my 06 is my first Dodge truck. Fit and Finish is better in a Ford, Fords, the 5.43v is hard on flue and Fords are only abought looks and image, no subsatance to them.
I Hate Fords, and Fords were all I would drive, I used to hate dodge, wired how I have seen the light.

I too am a Ford Convert. Went from a 96 Windstar and 01 F150 to a 07 Grand Caravan, 08 Ram and 09 Caliber.
I still have my 88 5.0 LX Mustang and 63 F100 though. They aren't going anywhere.
If Dodge is still around when the car and truck are paid off, then I will be in the market for a new Challenger R/T.

Hmm...worst "design flaw." Well, not sure if they are actual flaws, but the things I don't like are:
Drivers side seat trim piece ends right where my calf likes to ride while driving. Kind of a hard edge but I am getting use to it. Seems like they could have stopped on the side, or carried it across the front of the seat.
None of the junk holders are angled down, so cell phone, sunglasses, etc. slide out when accelerating.
Needing to turn on the cruise control, before you can set the cruise control. Have this in our Toyota as well. Really got use to our GM's always on "luxury".
Like others have mentioned, seat stains. It appears they have corrected that in the 07 and later years. I was able to get most of them out with a professional steam clean, and have scotchguarded to see if that helps in the future. Most of the used 06's I looked at had this issue, along with a wet dog smell.
No other issues that I can think of. Plenty of good things!
