Default Chop Top Ram options

I've decided to get a truck when I get back from my deployment and I've narrowed it down to a 4x4 crew cab Ram with a Hemi or Diesel. I think a 1500 would look unique and cool with the roof chopped off, but the extra heavy duty frame of a 2500 would help keep structural strength I think with no roof. Either way I would consider braces for the windshield, floor board, and maybe even a roll cage. I looked around and found very little info/examples of old trucks and Broncos with tops chopped off. There was one F-150 done very clean but I'd have it lifted instead of dropped.

thats out of my skill set, but would sure love to see it done...having the stronger frame of the 2500 makes sense...maybe look into the 2500 with the hemi, that way you wouldnt have to shell out so much for the diesel. a lifted chopped ram would definitely be original. I havent seen anything like that, if you got the time, skill set to do it, and cash i say go for it

I hope your wallet is ready for that...if you have the cashflow a CTD would be awesome. Not a complete tear off but still a chop job...would def catch eyes wherever u drove. good luck though!

cash flow? $20k for a used truck, $5k at most for chop... the cutting itself won't cost much or take too long, it would filling and patching up the aftermath to make it look clean. In a sense though, yah more $$$ would = cleaner more custom look.

No way i would buy a 2500 with a hemi. CTD is the only way i would get a 2500

Moving this to the General section btw.

There is a member here or another forum that did a chop top. I can't recall the name but it was a RC (maybe it was a QC) with a big mouth grille.

Would a choptop even pass NHRA tech at the track for modern vehicles? Umm gotta find that member who did it.

Im thinking structurally speaking you could just run a low roll cage through the floor of the truck, across the backs of the front seats and across (that way nobody would see it)

I think it will look great, if you had some fiberglassing skills you could make it look even better

Default Dodge Ram Diesel ready to be chopped

I found a 01 Dodge Ram 2500, Cummins diesel on craigslist that is ready to be chopped. (Nashville, TN asking $6000.00 for it) It was damaged when a I-Beam landed on the cab. Just thought I would let you know.
