Hello all, wanted to show you my "new" truck. It's a 2002 1500 crew cab sport with the 5.9L. Has almost every option, cd player, heated seats, leather/suade, ect.. I love it. Extremely clean and very well maintained for the mileage and year...132k miles. It was originally from Texas so there is not a spot of rust anywhere on the truck. Ironically it will be going back to Texas with me. Anyways just signed up on here to scope out some info on this rig..I am aware of almost all the issues with this truck, however some guidance as to where to get high quality parts is what I mainly seek.

So far I have discovered most of they typical problems to be found on my truck...
A/C Fan Inop.
Blend Door Issues.
Some Gauge Cluster Bulbs Out.
Cracked Dash.
Cruise Control Inop.(this I haven't figured out yet)
Speakers are shot.

I can fix all of those except for the cruise because IDK what's not working. I press the cruise button and the "CRUISE" light turn on in the cluster, but when I press SET, nothing happens.

Some things that worry me are..
Power Steering Rack blowing out...I've heard of this issue..where can I find a high quality replacement part for when this happens?

Transmission...not that anything is wrong with it, I just don't know if there are any known issues with these transmissions...I know from driving the truck around it sometimes won't go into 1st gear from Park to Drive...I have to bring it down to 1 then back to D....I think a fluid change might help, but IDK.

I plan on towing my race car down with me to Texas from NJ. It's a 1,800 mile hike...anything I should know/do before making the trip?

Any help/input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PICS!!

Thanks...anything I should know before I tow?

I hear that O/D should not be used when towing. Is this true?
I have bought new ATF +4 fluid for the trans and a new filter and gasket from the dealer. The dealer told me that a flush would be recommended for towing and said that it will clean the filter so no need to drop the pan...I didn't believe that so I think just a drop and fill would be wiser...thoughts??

nice truck looks clean i really like the seats....no do not flush that trans, only drop your pan change your filter and fill with new fluids....dont let them talk you into a flush....
