Default New Guy in WI, bout ready to buy Ram 1500

Greetings from Wisconsin.

I have a 2001 Hummer H1 I am looking to trade for a 2006 Ram 1500 Mega Cab Laramie Edition. I have had a blast with the H1 but need to be able to fit my family of five in my next truck.

I am a big fan of forums in general so I might need to plug in here if I follow through on this deal.

I would like some help. I think this guy believes his 1500 to be a little more precious than the marketplace is saying.

How do you recommend determining resale / trade value of his truck.

cheers

I say you go onto autotrader.com and do a comparable search of like rams w/ similiar miles and options as the vehicle you are looking at. See what results you can come up w/ and decide from their.

The guy wants $26,000 for it with 50,000 miles on it. New brakes, new tires. Remote start. Otherwise mostly everything the Laramie package comes with.

Ill check out AutoTrader. Thanks.

Sounds a bit high to me.

HERE is an 06 DR MC Laramie with 71k and is $23k

If yuo can do an SLT, HERE is another 06 DR MC with 41k and is $23k

There are several more listed on KBB for sale in that zip code for Appleton, WI

However, if I were to get a MC, I would be looking for one with a CTD and not a HEMI

Thanks, gents. That is very helpful.

Here is an interesting twist. The truck is in Canada. He will drive it here and give me his truck, title and cash. He drives the Hummer back. Does that sound problematic? Will I be able to license his truck here?

@weedahoe what do you like about the CTD?

I gotta agree with 'Weed. I'm not a big fan of the Mega in a gasser flavor. The Hemi has a lot of HP, but it's power is all mid and upper rpm. Not exactly the low end torque beast you'd want in a heavy a$$ truck (in stock for anyway).

Besides, for what this guy is asking for that '06, which is about $3-4k high, you could almost step into a CTD of that year...

I like the better fuel mileage a CTD gives over the HEMI. I like the more towing capacity. I like that they can make their own fuel (bio-diesel) and also create a ton of more HP and TQ than we can.

W-A-M, You want to trade in a H1 for a Dodge Ram? Thats nuts! Ill trade ya straight across, My truck only has slightly less than 40K miles. Ill even drive from Mo to WI to do the trade.
